PRESIDENT AND FOUNDER
Tommy Woycik is the president of NEXTEP SYSTEMS, where he leads the overall vision and growth of the company. He guides the company with 25 years of experience in the development of high-performance failsafe technology and operations.
He previously served as vice president at New World Systems. Tommy led the development of the company’s flagship public safety software, which is used in 911 dispatch centers and police cars nationwide. He has also consulted for PricewaterhouseCoopers and Deloitte & Touche, and has founded a number of successful startups.
Tommy graduated from the University of Michigan with a bachelor’s in software engineering, and earned an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management.
DIRECTOR OF INNOVATION
Marshall Cummings offers more than thirty years experience in software and systems architecture, and serves as the Director of Innovation for NEXTEP SYSTEMS. His experience includes overcoming countless hardware and software architecture challenges, from high-reliability and fault-tolerant systems architecture to troubleshooting complex systems.
He was employed for more than seven years at the University of Michigan’s Institute for Social Research, and served as Chief Software Architect for New World Systems, helping build public safety software for 911 dispatch centers and police cars nationwide.
Previously, Marshall co-founded CMS Technologies. He holds eight patents in network-related technology and is largely credited with the invention of Power-over-Ethernet (PoE).
VICE PRESIDENT OF OPERATIONS
Khris Perry serves NEXTEP SYSTEMS as the Vice President of Operations, where he manages the Services, Support, Project Management and Creative teams. He has more than ten years of experience managing projects, resources and software deployment.
He previously worked as Systems Assurance Manager, overseeing mission-critical software for mobile units deployed in law enforcement and fire department vehicles. Khris graduated from the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor of Computer Science degree.
Michael T. Schmidt, CPA, manages NEXTEP’s finance operations, overseeing internal and external reporting, cash management, procurement, and tax compliance matters. Michael has more than 18 years of experience, including over 8 years working for privately held service, technology and distribution companies and over 10 years of public accounting experience at KPMG and Plante Moran.
Michael is a graduate of the University of Michigan and holds a Master’s degree from Walsh College.
DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT
As Software Architect, Kevin Varga brings more than 15 years experience in software engineering to the table. He provides clients with solutions that demonstrate reliability, scalability, and flexibility, drawing from his experience in software architecture and mission-critical application design.
Kevin previously worked for 10 years as a software architect. He graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Computer Science degree.
VICE PRESIDENT OF MARKETING & USER EXPERIENCE
Chuck’s history with NEXTEP SYSTEMS goes back to the very beginning. As a co-founder alongside Tommy Woycik, Chuck’s name appears on the patent for NEXTEP’s trademark technology, giving him an innate understanding of the product and the market it serves.
Chuck brings more than 20 years of hands-on creative and digital experience to the table, as well as a tireless entrepreneurial sensibility. Chuck previously founded his own digital creative firm, ACME Pixel Movers, and served as Creative Director and Digital Strategist; as well as getting his hands dirty re-architecting the global web presence for Ford as UX Architect for Team Detroit (now GTB).
Resuming his tenure at NEXTEP, Chuck turns his energy back to the company he helped establish to innovate the future of digital ordering.
